On Friday
the 12th of September, something wonderful happened. It was amazing.
It was really happening. I was going to get a chance to play Super Smash
Brothers for the 3DS. Well a demo but, hey I wasn't complaining. Yes, Nintendo
had released a demo for their latest 3DS game in England and I was ecstatic. I
had been waiting to get a taste of this game since it was announced all the way
back in 2011 and this was my chance. You should have seen the glee on my face.
You would have been lucky to see it as my glee quickly transformed into
annoyance. I soon found out that the demo was only available to platinum
Nintendo Club members. The rest of us had to wait until the 19th. My
dreams were dashed.
Now I know
what you’re thinking right now, ‘get yourself together, it’s only a week’. Now
I will admit, that is the logical way to look at this, it is only a week. But
if I can, I’m going to throw logic out the window for a minute. For someone
like me who has been waiting to play this game for years, watching eagerly as
they announce each veteran and newcomer, this was heart-breaking. Seeing that
news link on my daily Smash Brothers news update was a huge deal. Well it was
until I clicked on the link and found out I would be waiting another week for
the demo because I hadn't registered enough of my Nintendo games on the club
website.
However,
the worst was still to come. People who had received the codes received three
extra codes to do with what they please. People started to give them away
online (and also sell them but those people are jerks and I don’t want to talk
about them) and I was left camping out at my laptop, seeing if I could get hold
of one (yes I’m that sad). After a while, I accepted my fate, I would be
waiting another week to get a chance to play the game I wanted more than
Charlie wanted that golden ticket to the chocolate factory. It was a nice
gesture Nintendo but for those of us left in the cold, it sucks. I want to play this game Nintendo and I want
to play it now. But I guess I’ll just have to wait a week.
